What is the difference between gold filled jewelry and gold plated jewelry?
Gold Filled Jewelry is constructed with a thick layer of solid gold mechanically bonded to a base metal (eg. brass, silver) with heat and pressure. Gold filled generally lasts much longer than most electroplated jewelry when looking for a wallet-friendly alternative to sold 14k gold.
Gold Plated Jewelry consists of a very thin layer of gold being electrically charged onto a base metal or sterling silver. If sterling silver is plated in gold this can also be referred to as “Vermeil”. Gold plated jewelry is the cheapest and lowest quality of the three metal types. Gold plating will generally wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product. Because the layer of gold is so thin, it does not stand up to heat, water or wear over time.
What is the meaning of salt and light?
Salt and light comes from the verse “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” + Matthew 5:13-145. For us the meaning of this is to be an influence in our world. Salt means to be an enhancer, to encourage and influence other people with positivity and God’s love. To be the light is to bring the spirit of God with you wherever you go and share that with others.
This necklace acts as a reminder to be the salt and the light in our daily lives.
