The Local + Lejos Collection Neri medium bowl and large serving tray are long-time favourites. Inspired by traditional Rwandan design, the neutral colors and open, calming design make the Neri a wonderful addition to your bowl wall, table, or desk. Either size is an excellent gift, even if it is just to yourself!
These woven bowls are created from dyed natural sisal fibres woven over a core of forest grasses. The weavers begin in the middle of the basket, carefully threading the sisal around and around to create this beautiful design. The tea colour is created when the naturally-white sisal fibres are steeped in Rwandan-grown tea leaves!
The Handcrafted Details
Azizi Life is a faith based fair trade organization which partners with Rwandan artisans to bring beautifully designed, hand crafted goods to the world. As a not-for-profit organization, Azizi Life is dedicated to the wellbeing of our artisan partners and their families. In addition to opening economic opportunity through fair trade, Azizi Life invests in a range of community impact projects. Their Rwandan-led team facilitates adult literacy classes and offers other practical resources for personal, spiritual, and economic growth.
"As Christians, we at Azizi Life believe that God cares deeply about our physical wellbeing and our relationships with one another, as well as our relationship with Him. We see the brokenness of the world- in the West as well as here in Rwanda- and believe that it is only through a relationship with Jesus Christ that true healing and wholeness – and development – can be found."
"The foundation of everything that we do is based on the principles that are shown within the Bible. In all of our interactions and activities, we strive to work with integrity and to show God’s love and truth to the people around us. This extends not only to the artist groups and communities here in Rwanda, but also to our customers and supporters around the world."
