Faith Reflected and Spirit Inspired
At The Watermark Shop, we believe that your home should be a place of peace, rest, love and connection. It should also inspire you.
We spend a lot of time in our home and lately, it has become even more. There is just something about having a space that you love to be in. When you love your space, it affects the rest of your life, and often helps with mood, joy and feeling inspired.
We wanted to share with you some of our favourite Christian home decor pieces from our shop and pull back the curtain a bit to share a bit more about where they come from and how they could fit into your space.
Although a lot of these items might not have scriptures written on them or visibly look Christian, the makers however are, and these items are blessed!
Spiritually inspired home decor is taking more and more of the forefront when it comes to interior design.
Worship Begins at Home
Throughout scripture, and especially in the old testament, people would create a symbol, a sign or a memorial to remember things that God had done in their lives. Many of these were for the nation of Israel as God took them from slavery to the promised land.
This same principle still lives on today as we adorn our living spaces with not only reminders of God’s faithfulness, but also reminders of hopes and dreams for the future.
Colossians 1:16 – For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him.
This scripture is a great reminder that all things come from God and that He has created everything. It’s things like this that we use to place in our home so that we can remind ourselves of the truth.
Living Room Home Decor
The living room is usually the main focus of the home, and a large portion of the decorating budget goes into it. Usually, because it’s the room that most people use to spend time with their families or for hosting.
When you are considering your own living room and the decor you will want to have a consistent theme, this includes textures, colours and design.
There is a lot that can be written here but we though we would highlight three items from the shop that can easily be integrated into most living rooms.
Home Office Decor
If you are anything like us you have been spending a lot more time in the home office over the past year than previously.
This space usually gets overlooked when it comes to decor because function usually takes precedence. That’s ok, we know that work has to get done. We also know that efficiency goes up when your workspace is inviting and reminds you of god’s goodness. Here are a couple of items from the shop that could help you with your workspace.
Kitchen and Dining Home Decor
Deuteronomy 11:18-20: “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and your gates.
We decided to group the kitchen and dining room together because usually, they are a blend of activity and family time.
This scripture from Deuteronomy reminds us to not only write things down but to also pass them onto our family. The kitchen and the dining area should be set up for maximum connection and relationship building. When you are considering your decor and accent pieces is a great place to have reminders of who God is and what you believe so as a family you establish your true north.
Bedroom Christian Home Decor
The bedroom is usually more of a sanctuary, and probably a lot simpler than some of the other rooms in the house. We thought however there are a few little things that can really add value to this special place.
